Deana Lawson

Eli Ridgway Gallery, San Francisco · April 23 – May 28, 2011

Eli Ridgway Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of photographs by Deana Lawson.

Lawson makes large-format, meticulously staged portraits in which subjects—often photographed in domestic interiors—are arranged with deliberate attention to pose, gesture, and surrounding detail. Drawing on both her directed studio practice and found and appropriated imagery, she builds a charged, intimate vision of family, the body, and Black domestic life.
