San Diego International Airport

San Diego International Airport

In March of 2017, Amy Ellingson was selected as one of three finalist to create a 270 ft glass partition wall at the San Diego International Airport. For this project, Ellingson partnered with Mayer of Munich, an international company that has completed projects in hundreds of civic locations throughout the world, including airport projects in Philadelphia, Reykjavik, Boston and Munich and such notable public sites as St. Peter’s Church in Rome.

Horizon’s Verge, Ellingson's proposed design, incorporates a formal language of opaque and transparent color, active linear elements and soft atmospheres to create a space that welcomes travelers by linking aspects of motion (travel, transport, action) with resolution (place, arrival, centeredness).
