Artist Matthew Palladino presents compositionally and spatially complex works on paper that seamlessly fuse disparate imagery and cultural ideals. Engaging in its illusionism, the work is comprised of pictorial tensions and layers of meaning that pull the viewer into repeated examination of the subject matters pictured and their significance. Drawing upon the visual language of illustration and graphic design, the pieces playfully reference pop culture, art history, the carnivalesque, and moralistic pitfalls.

Matthew Palladino (born 1986, San Francisco) has recently had solo exhibitions at Baer Ridgway Exhibitions (2010, San Francisco), Fredericks & Freiser (2011, New York) and the New Art Dealers Alliance Art Fair (2010, Miami). His work is in the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art as well as numerous private collections.
