15 x 5 x 30 feet

Description: Camera-less film installation with16mm film /sound projector, sewing machine, black leader film loop. Black leader film loop runs through 16mm film projector and is fed through a sewing machine. The needle of the sewing machine punctures holes continuously deconstructing the film while simultaneously constructing the image projected. Sound is made by puncture holes in film passing through projector’s sound tube. Duration is ongoing or until loop breaks.

Artist’s Concept: Film loop represents time while the needle of the sewing machine marks time by puncturing holes on the film, continuously deconstructing the film and simultaneously constructing the image projected. The film becomes an artifact for this installation that tells a similar story of light versus dark.
